Tere Ishk Mein Review - The Best Emotional Love Story of 2025? Here's Our Verdict!

Dhanush and Kriti Sanon in an intense moment from the film Tere Ishk Mein

The wait is finally over!

Tere Ishk Mein, the romantic thriller of the year, has been released in the theatres worldwide today, 28th of November 2025.

It is the film that reunites the magical trio of director Aanand L. Rai and actor Dhanush, after their fab duo Raanjhanaa and the lovely Atrangi Love.

Now, they have Kriti Sanon with them to bring a fresh face to the combination of Dhanush opposite. Well, it looks like the early reviews to the movie are simply fabulous.

Tere Ishk Mein has been called an emotional roller coaster. The film is about the fiery love story of Shankar (Dhanush) and Mukti (Kriti Sanon). Their love blossoms in a colorful college corridor. But destiny separates them as Mukti decides to marry someone else.

Shankar, the character played by Dhanush, is heartbroken and gets mad in a revengeful manner. The trailer itself went viral, showing a love that is very possessive and destructive at most.

Most of the story is in the holy city of Benaras. The trailer, showing among other things Shankar forcibly taking Mukti’s wedding rituals, is highly dramatic and sets an intense tone.

Director Aanand L. Rai is very mature and deep in his handling of the narrative. He tells the story of love, being hurt by the one you love and sacrificing for love. The team at the core of the project is the same as his previous blockbusters. The script writers are Himanshu Sharma and Neeraj Yadav.

The music, which is one of the strengths of the film, is composed by the ever talented A.R. Rahman. The words full of poetry and laden with pain are written by Irshad Kamil. The music by Rahman especially the title track and the energetic Deewana Deewana almost sing the film’s dark mood.

Both the lead actors have brought what most of the critics considered to be the best of their career. Dhanush’s character Shankar is full of anarchic energy brought forth in a very fiery way.

Kriti Sanon as Mukti is a very convincing actress and she has a wide range of emotion especially in the difficult parts of the film’s climax. According to Kriti, performing the intense climax scene was tough for her both physically and emotionally.

The movie's duration is 2 hours and 49 minutes. It was given a UA 16+ certificate by CBFC. The early advance booking gives a hint of the film’s big opening. It will be Dhanush’s biggest opening in the Hindi film industry already, beating Raanjhanaa.

If you are a victim of romantic dramas that are predictable, then Tere Ishk Mein is the one to see. It is a raw, forceful, and deeply emotional film that lingers.

Rating 4/5
