Rajamouli described Varanasi as the most difficult film he has ever made. One enormous episode based on the Ramayana took 60 days of shooting. The unveiling of the cast was something out of a movie. Mahesh Babu could not have made a more spectacular entrance onto the stage. A large mechanical white bull was his steed. With a trident in his hand, he resembled an irate god of destruction going to battle. Mahesh Babu assured that he would take the entire country on a triumph ride.
After long time, Priyanka Chopra Jonas came back to Indian film industry. Playing the role of enigmatic Mandakini, she was ravishing.
