From the very beginning, this episode creates an incredible atmosphere of anticipation, and we can honestly say that the Virani house has never been so full of secrets. It is morning time, and Mihir is already showing signs of restlessness; it is almost as if he has an intuition that Tulsi is very close.
We perceive that his gaze is constantly wandering in search of something or someone he cannot identify. The very moment he is about to leave the place perhaps to follow that intuition, Noina comes into view with a very definite plan in her mind. She is clearly very anxious and her chief objective for today is to prevent the intersection of the paths of Mihir and Tulsi, come what may.
What we see with Noina’s actions is that her anxiety is growing. Little by little, she covers her moves with tiny, somewhat see-through excuses and keeps Mihir at home. The first excuse is an urgent household matter that demands attention all of a sudden, and then she invents a phone call that she "needs" him to handle.
The situation is really quite stressful to watch because it is very evident how close he is to the truth. Mihir appears somewhat bewildered by her odd vibes, but he is patient as always. At one point, he is almost out of the front door, but Noina intervenes with a family issue that she knows will grab his attention. It’s a smart move, but it gives the impression that she is dancing on a volcano.
Tulsi, on the other hand, is just a few blocks away, and the almost encounters are nothing less than torment to the observers. She is living her life without knowing at all that the whole number of minutes is what separates her from the man she is yearning for. The director's use of soft lighting and slow motion really emphasized their distance. They were so close to each other physically yet worlds apart.
The rest of the family in the house is also involved in their own little dramas. The kitchen is filled with discussions regarding the festival that is going to take place soon, and no one is aware of the emotional whirlpool that is happening in the living room.
Noina’s strategies are day by day getting more and more aggressive. At one moment she nearly get168 the exit closed off. It is really one of those episodes when you are just yelling at the TV for Mihir to simply look left or right! The peak of the day takes place when Mihir at last makes up his mind that he has to go for an appointment and Noina seems to be on the verge of a total breakdown.
The episode comes to a close with Mihir by his car, looking back at the house, a look of confusion on his face, while Noina is looking from the balcony and for the time being, letting out a sigh of relief. We think the truth will eventually be revealed, but for today, the secret is hanging by a very thin thread.
