Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai begins with Abhira being troubled by Manisha’s odd behaviour and sudden mood changes during the time spent by the family. It seems to Abhira that Manisha is always running to the washroom, yet no one except Manisha herself is able to understand the change of her face, and she even refuses her favourite food; these signs make Abhira come up with a single answer.
Abhira is so sure that Manisha is pregnant that she even recalls all the tiny signs to Arman. After hearing what she has to say, Arman not only looks stunned but also warns her not to act on a hunch and go and talk to Manisha directly.
Abhira is baffled even more because of Manisha’s behaviour
During breakfast, Manisha doesn’t want to eat oily food and at the same time she holds her nose from the smell, which again makes Abhira sure of her guess. She plays with the idea of how the family members will welcome the news and also gets butterflies in her stomach, but is hesitant in confirming it.
Arman warns Abhira that pregnancy is a very delicate matter and, therefore, they must not indulge in gossip. He tells her to be composed and not to lose sight of the facts, especially in a joint family, instead of getting carried away with her imagination.
Changes in the family mood and surprising new concerns
Meanwhile, a little banter starts in the house as some elders also become witnesses of Manisha’s changing habits. They pull her leg slightly, but Manisha does not look at ease, which Abhira notices and interprets as another indication.
On a different note, the script shows that the past problems between Abhira and Armaan are still there. They are going through difficult times themselves, even when they are concerned for others.
The reality of Manisha’s situation
Near the end, Abhira musters the strength to confront Manisha in a closed room and ask her directly. Manisha looks taken aback and slightly irritated, which keeps the viewers in suspense as to whether Abhira is right or dead wrong.
The whole parts ends with a scene where Abhira and Armaan are looking at each other with surprise and confusion, as the new layer of the story about Manisha’s condition is getting ready to be revealed.
